Bringing it in with a Bang!

October 12th, 2009

So the girls thought of a seriously fun way to do the pre-Diwali bash last Saturday, and I confess I was party to it! It was to be Sadie Hawkins style, with the girls initiating everything!! So the evening got off to a slow-ish start, with some of the girls hesitant to ask the guys for a dance, and the guys doing what guys will do, laughing and guffawing to appear totally on top of the situation— I thought it was time to ramp up the action, and sashayed up to Akshay from third-year–totally booty-licious, but more on him later…I just straightaway popped the Q–“Hey Aksh, would you like to have the pleasure of a dance with me?” His jaw dropped, he did the hemming thing and the hawing thing, after which his macho sense took over and he got up and we showed some seriously good moves on the floor! Yes, the action picked up all right!! That broke the ice totally, and led to some fast paced action on the floor, and boy! Were some of my gal-pals into the theme!! There was some actual boy-teasing happening on that floor, I’ll tell you that for sure–and was it ever fun! Diwali is looking like a rocking week ahead, and I armed myself with the necessary ammunition–loads of fun and feisty stuff from NUN! Got a sparkly couple of tops and a rocking skirt, not to mention some essential undies and teamed them up with a funky bag to die for! Just makes the season that much more fun–and as for the thing with the Akshay boy, well, let’s just say, its going reeeeally well!!

Mindgames and Things

August 22nd, 2009

It’s a funny thing about the way thoughts go, they go from point A to Z without the courtesy of a detour!! My mind plays tricks, I guess that’s what minds are like, tricky little devils. Now take the party last night. I entered and instantly checked out the scene to find that Shreya and Manya were huddled with Raghav and AJ in the corner obviously in a total confab which had nothing to do with anyone or anything else in the room. So there I was, in my new azure spangly NUN number and the room was free of any reaction whatsoever!! Now this was a new thing to happen to me–never in my memory’s history has the great Karishma charisma not worked as I enter a place!! Not that there was any fear of my wattage dimming, I mean, hey–it’s the great K after all–but if they’re distracted they need to be brought back to the job at hand–K worship!! But before I called them to attention, my mind went into suspicion mode–so what was that very x-rated Manya talking so closely to my guy Rags for? Was she–God forbid– hitting on him? And why was Shreya whispering in a room where you couldn’t hear yourself think!!I never really liked that guy AJ either, at least I didn’t after this show of ignorance of ‘The way Things Should Be Done’. So I strolled around, did the air-kiss thing with a couple of so-not-happenings and scooped up a bowl of the very lethal punch they were serving, (it definitely took things up a notch or two!) and proceeded to pretend to totally ignore that motley knot while keeping a completely clear eye on them. And then Raghav, of all people notices me and raises a hand in greeting–while mumbling something which looked suspiciously like a warning–to the others! So what was exactly happening here? I didn’t care, but felt a giveaway tear make its way into my eye, all fat and ready to plop!! Horror of horrors, for that perfect facade to crumble in full public view! I swiveled about to head to the loo when I was swung around by the foursome–‘Surprise’–they yelled–‘its your six-month anniversary!!’and there was the man himself, Rags with the most beautiful bunch of red balloons and long stemmed beauties and all–I couldn’t speak–the fat guy plopped out after all, with a bunch of others in tow–and it suddenly became a beautiful evening!!And as for my suspicious mind–well it can go wander!!!Love ya–Karishma

Relationships and Stuff

July 1st, 2009

Hey Girls, whaddya think?? One feels sort of responsible when you let a guy down hard, but hey!! Is it not kinder than stringing him/them along and then dropping them after giving extra hope and fake good vibes? I think cold turkey works, if only to let them realize that they’re free to pursue other options…and…errr…so are we!!! Guys take their time figuring this stuff out, as any girl with half her head fitted on right knows from age three! Guys are so sweet and uncomplicated for the most part, it’s positively lovely. I mean, I have enough complication in me for everyone, so stay simple people!! So hey–what is the deal with guys– are they slow and don’t they get it–girls are just so different and instinctive about this basic stuff, what say Girl? But there are some guys who do seem more clued in– Take last Saturday, was at the concert with G, my ‘guyfriend’ of three months. Ok, we have had some quite good times, but ho and hum, can’t save all the goodies for one lucky guy now can we? So this and other compelling needs like D joining sociology class and choosing that very seat in front of me which gives me such a close-up look at his unbearably munch-able neck, cause me to seriously re-think this situation!! So here I was at the concert with G, and while the music was really good, all I could think of was–“now? Shall I tell him now??”All the while pretending to groove to the music, look hot and carefully check out the cool-ness quotient of the crowd!! Girls are such multi-taskers, I kid you not, but then you already knew that, right? So the only thing to do is to bite the bullet and just tell him that I need to move on–I turn to him to find him looking not at the stage, not around, but straight at me! I gear up to say those harsh words and watch his heart shatter into little bleeding bits–but he starts speaking–and lo and behold!! These are his very words–‘Adi–errr, you know Divya in Psych?? Umm, I’m sort of in love with her, so I’m…eh ..sorrta going to–be going out with her, so…” and he gives me a totally ‘I’m dumping you’ look!! I mean, dumping ME!! Guys, who wants to figure them out anyways!! I’m going solo for a bit!! cheers–Aditi

Bringing in Spring

March 30th, 2009

It’s so sexy being a girl in spring, I just thank my stars that I’m one of these and not one of those! I mean, now with the weather turning warm and honey I bring out my little tops and my tiny shorts and my playful swingy skirts and other thighbaring numbers–what do the guys get to do? Ho and hum, they go from jeans and jacket to jeans and Tee and if really hot, they go to shorts and Tees!! Now ask me all about really hot! Babe, I wrote that book!–Now take last Saturday night, we all headed to that new night haunt and proceeded to get seriously relaxed, dancing our heels off and strutting some it-girl attitude–pretty normal stuff but rocking, nonetheless! Right there on the floor, I worked three looks in three minutes, or less!! There was my NUN clubline shimmer spangle top with crystals and there were my grey distressed jeans, and my so-handy so-gorgeous NUNdercover wrap–they all took the floor for a bit, then I let my NUN wrap trail over one shoulder and leave the other in full view– voila–look 2,and then for the coup de grace–did the diva thing and let the top take over totally–dropped the wrap on a nearby couch and shimmied away to a dropped-jaw audience, I mean, seriously I kid you not, I DO have some rocking moves!! Anyways, my point is, Girls can do this, that and the other and still carry off a hot happening tag, but catch a guy try anything funny and he’s branded a wannabe and ‘put on’ and all other labels that he could well do without!! We go from jeans to shorts to a rocking tux and all that anyone can do is gasp in delight! We smile, it blows them away, we snort, its fun, we play football its amazing… we dress up its delightful, we dress down it’s fun…hey, I soooo love who I am, a girl!! Share a thought–just catch me here–love ya:-) Aditi

Attitude Baring at its Best

March 23rd, 2009

It’s all about attitude, that’s for sure but what’s too much and what’s just right? Ask me, babes I’m a total attitude pro, and this becomes crystal clear in difficult situations!! Take my college story–assignment due date is way over and I’ve clean forgotten, o.k.? The prof fixes me with her beady stare and says in her nasal whine–“and now we will hear from our lovely Karishma, why she’s the only one who has not thought our sociology project worth wasting time on–Karishma, over to you my dear” and there we were–with eyes locked, and 34 more stares glued unblinkingly to the situation! Clearly, it was now up to me. Unflinchingly I rose to it, and quelled her glare with one clean sweep–“Professor Bhagat”, I purred “I was waiting for my copy of the Harvard Sociology Review, it covers the subject of our report and I thought it would add some interesting facts and an international perspective to the project…but then you would know it only comes out by the third week of the month, wouldn’t you?” The stares turned to gapes in doubletime, and the eye-lock, well let’s just say, her expression was–well, priceless.

And take the other day at the canteen, Mr. Macho tight pants Anand(Andy to you babe, he always says, so everyone still calls him Anand!!) from third year starts picking on the freshers and trying to impress our girl gang. So he swaggers by, all thrilled with his silly boy antics and I yelled–“Hey Anand, why don’t you pick on someone your own size–you do know that size does matter–or don’t you?” My gal pals predictably broke up laughing, and Andy boy, well he just simply broke down!! Ohhh, the sheer joy of cutting those ego monsters down to size–unbelievably happening! Attitude rocks!! Catch up soon, luv Karishma
